Our main goal at Dr. Misty Horn-Blake DDS is to help our patients obtain optimal oral health and equip them with the tools and techniques necessary to maintain that health. We offer comprehensive dental care, restorative, and cosmetic dentistry. Dr. Blake provides clients with high-quality patient care, the latest in dental technology and techniques, and a staff with numerous years of experience in the dental field.
Dr. Blake’s goals are to prevent problems from occurring, and to educate the patients in the correct and most current methods to maintain healthy teeth and gums. She also shares information on correct methods for oral care at home and promotes the importance of regularly scheduled checkups and cleanings.
Dr Blake offers cosmetic dentistry services, including porcelain crowns, teeth whitening, veneers, closing spaces between teeth, and fixing chipped or broken teeth. Dr. Blake recommends that that patients come in for an extensive consultation appointment. After gathering the important data, afterwards she will then customize an individual treatment plan and meet with the patient to discuss options to create healthy teeth and gums and a great-looking smile.
Dr. Blake performs all restorative dental procedures relating to the health and function of the smile, such as repairing broken or otherwise damaged teeth, gums and tissue. Restorative dental procedures include tooth-colored fillings, crowns, partial dentures and dental implants. Dr. Blake also provides full denture appliances that are both comfortable and cosmetic.
Because porcelain crowns provide the best color match to natural teeth, patients often choose all porcelain crowns when searching for a more aesthetically pleasing smile. Dr. Blake uses her expertise and training to match the exact translucency and color of the patient’s natural teeth, so the crown blends in with the surrounding teeth. Porcelain crowns are often used for teeth in the “smile zone,” the teeth that show when you smile. They are a type of ceramic crown very resistant to abrasion and staining.
Some of our patients only want whitened teeth to add that extra boost to their smile and confidence. In-office or at-home tooth bleaching safely lightens the color of teeth, and removes stains from coffee, tea, wine, food coloring or darkened sodas.
Tooth Colored Fillings
The aesthetics of dental treatment have improved dramatically, thanks to advancements in technology. Restorations can be made of tooth-colored materials that enable us to repair decayed or damaged teeth in a manner that blends in with your other teeth. Many people choose tooth-colored fillings to replace cracked or loose silver fillings during a regular visit to the dentist. Dr. Blake also offers other restorative materials and is proud of the fact that many treatments can be done very conservatively, so as to minimize the amount of tooth structure removed.
When a tooth’s structure has been compromised due to injury or severe decay, a tooth-shaped covering, called a crown, is needed to restore strength and eliminate discomfort or pain. The crown can be made of metal, gold, ceramic or porcelain. The crown procedure consists of removal of tooth decay, taking exact measurements of the tooth and creating a crown that fits over the tooth, protecting and strengthening the remaining tooth structure and reinforcing the jaw.
An implant crown consists of two parts, the base structure, a titanium screw or post, and the tooth-shaped covering called a crown. As an implant dentist in Johnson City, Dr. Blake oversees the implantation process and performs the restorative work of placing the permanent crown.
When more conservative methods of restoration are not an option, Dr. Blake uses implant crowns, also referred to as implant dentistry. Implants are one method of replacing missing teeth or stabilizing an ill-fitting or loose denture with teeth that look and perform like natural ones. This method is non-invasive to the adjacent, healthy teeth. Replacing missing teeth with implants prevents painful shifting in the mouth, malocclusions and uneven wear on remaining teeth.
Bite Guards and Mouth Guards
We make a variety of mouth guards available to our patients to prevent damage to the teeth and mouth. A bite guard can alleviate stress on the temporomandibular joint, as well as prevent wear on the teeth caused by teeth grinding, referred as bruxism. Dr. Blake fits children, teenagers and adults involved in athletics with custom mouth guards for a perfect, comfortable fit that protects the teeth and mouth from injury.
